Gallery Profile

Michael E.S. Carroll
A 1988 graduate of the history department at Duke University, Michael was, along with his wife Tonya, the co-founder of the Turner Carroll Gallery in 1991. He brings a historical perspective to curating Turner Carroll exhibitions. He studied the arts at Duke, in New York City and in Moscow and St. Petersberg. He was a two- term, past president of the Santa Fe Gallery Association, and has helped raise several hundred thousand dollars for arts education through the SFGA's charity arm, Art Smart. He is a frequent lecturer on such topics as artist-gallery relations, and serves on several boards.

Tonya Turner Carroll
A 1989 graduate of the Art History Department at Chapel Hill, Tonya was awarded the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship for her studies at UNC. Along with her husband Michael, she was the co-founder of the Turner Carroll Gallery in 1991. Tonya previously worked at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Sotheby's London. She studied at Stanford's Center for Classical Studies in Rome and at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Currently, she curates exhibitions at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, and at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort. Via Tonya's and Michael's ArteMita project, donations are made to local schools in Sayulita and Punta de Mita, Mexico.

A native of New Mexico, Megan is currently pursuing her Masters of Art History degree from the University of New Mexico, the same institution where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Philosophy B.A. Focusing on modern art, her education synthesizes well with the emerging contemporary art market in Santa Fe. Her elation to be a member of the Turner Carroll team is rivaled only by her enthusiasm and passion for art.
