“With this photo, I wanted to address the impact that we have with our voices via the internet. I wanted my subject to appear passive to express that she is taking in and internalizing the messages she is receiving (from social media, messages, etc.) to show how we are impacted and influenced by the voices of other people. I also wanted my subject isolated to show how the influence of others is present in our lives even when we are alone and how technology and social media can isolate us rather than connect us. I wanted this shot to appear intimate in order to highlight our interactions with technology that we often take for granted, as they have become so normal in our lives.” Emily Paul
