Swoon – Edline

Edline was a young girl Swoon met in Cormiers, Haiti, in 2010 after the devastating earthquake. Swoon went there to build sustainable community shelters and a community center for those affected. Edline came to the center every day Swoon was there, and after construction finished, Swoon taught Edline how to make the shadow puppet she holds as a part of the center’s after-school programming. For Swoon, Edline’s image represents the opportunity found in forming a deeper relationship with the people she was helping—an archetype who reminds us to foster the wealth of social exchange.
