Sharon Brush and Marietta Patricia Leis are two artists whose quiet, powerful, and organic work complement each other perfectly. Sharon Brush approaches the construction of each of her vessels as a sculpture—working to create rhythm, flow, reverberation and quiet within each one. Intrigued by contrasts, she moves from slow, sweeping curves to staccato points and ridges; from enclosed space to open passage; from deeply textured surface to river-rock smoothness. Leis’ reductive, expressive visual practice is shaped out of experiments in material process and takes inspiration from the forms of nature, sense of place and the internal landscape. She uses minimal yet deep color palettes across a variety of mediums the viewer can lose themselves in.
