We could all use a dose of whimsical happiness in our lives right now, and who better to provide that than playful artist Hunt Slonem? Slonem draws inspiration from the thriving natural habitats of Hawaii, Nicaragua, New York, and Mexico where he lived and worked. Slonem has established himself as a leading figure in contemporary art with a signature style that emphasizes patterns, bold colors, and a fascination with the natural world.

Hunt Slonem’s artistic career has spanned over 50 years of collaboration and major exhibitions, and his work can be found in the Smithsonian and New Orleans Museum of Art, as well as past Venice Biennales.

Slonem brings the joy of nature and animals to life through his meditative, distinctive and extremely expressive figurative style. The language of his brush strokes invokes the simple joy of childhood, while his ability to play with shape shows a deeply skilled mastery of these animal forms–most frequently rabbits, birds, and flowers. For Slonem, the repetition of these motifs is a way to tap into the subconscious, and they represent both his personal experiences and broader universal themes of life and nature.

Turner Carroll Gallery has recently acquired a number of new incredible works by Hunt Slonem, including the artworks pictured. Head over to turnercarrollgallery.com to see more!
