In conjunction with the last month of the exhibition Wit, Humor, and Satire at the Albuquerque Museum, Turner Carroll Gallery will feature works by Scott Greene in our Canyon Road space. This exhibition wraps January 29, 2023. It is an in-depth exploration of the ways in which art, philosophy, and politics intersect through the vehicle of humor. Artists have a centuries-old tradition of utilizing satire to make their works more powerful, and as a way to sneak in through the back door of taboo subjects. Unexpected marriages of pop culture and religion, caricature portraits, and dark humor are all found in the pieces in Wit, Humor, and Satire. In addition, a companion volume, Wit, Humor, and Satire has just been published. This excellent book has essays by Josie Lopez, Lacey Christo, and Zoë Cole-Neal, and is $40.
