Born in North Africa and based in New Mexico, Mokha Laget is known for her shaped geometric abstractions that explore perceptual paradoxes through vibrant color and architectural form. Trained in classical techniques in France, she earned a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design and a degree in translation from Georgetown University. Her interdisciplinary career spans painting, curating, writing, theater, and sound-based visual scores.
Laget’s work is held in major museum collections, including the New Mexico Museum of Art and the Palm Springs Art Museum, and was the subject of a ten-year survey at the American University Katzen Museum in 2022. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Frederick Hammersley Foundation Award, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, and residencies at MASS MoCA, the American Academy in Rome, and the Vladem Contemporary.
