Contemporary Tapestry

Handwork, process and craft are fast carving a place for itself in contemporary art. While Jacquard tapestry is woven from an electronic–or even a paper–code, the digital pixel idea lives brilliantly within fabric and stitching of all kinds. This exhibition will highlight work from the Magnolia Tapestry Project which has fashioned a very important part of the contemporary art market for this kind of work. Artists include Chuck Close, Squeak Carnwath, William Wiley, Hung Liu, Rupert Garcia, Alan Magee and Donald and Era Farnsworth.

Opening Reception Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 5 to 8:30pm.
