Turner Carroll Gallery celebrates 35 years
On June 1, 1991, Tonya Turner Carroll and Michael Carroll opened Turner Carroll Gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe. Only two years out of university with degrees in art history and history, they were full of passion for contemporary art and desire to champion artists who would change the course of art history. 35 years later, Turner Carroll Gallery is one of the longest operating galleries in Santa Fe and has brought the work of incredible artists including Christo, Kara Walker, Judy Chicago, Claes Oldenburg, Agnes Martin, Shepard Fairey, Jim Dine, and more to New Mexico. We’re excited to see what comes next! This is a selection of the artists and artworks surveying the history of the gallery, which have taken us from the innovative edge to the prestigious center of art history.
