Charles White is one of the most well known and respected artists of the United States. A Black man, he was able to establish a career for himself based on his tremendous skill, in spite of the intense racism that has always been insidious in the U.S. He married another great artist–Elizabeth Catlett. White has recently enjoyed retrospective exhibitions at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, Museum of Modern Art, Blanton Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and others. The artwork is signed by the artist and is in excellent condition.
