Christo and Jeanne-Claude proposed to wrap Barcelona’s Monument to Cristobal Colon was one of the only wrapped monument projects to be approved. The approval was started in 1975, refused twice, and finally approved by the mayor in 1984. Christo and Jeanne-Claude had moved on to other monumental projects by that time, and never realized the Barcelona project. This print is quite important in that it is one of the only wrapped projects to receive full support of the municipality.
