Heidi Hahn (born 1982) is an American contemporary painter based in Brooklyn, New York, celebrated for her expressive, visually layered oil paintings that explore identity, gender, and the human figure through atmospheric, psychologically charged compositions. Her work often features gestural, fluid forms—frequently female figures or “body spaces”—that inhabit ambiguous settings where abstraction and figuration intersect. Hahn was born in Los Angeles, California, and trained at The Cooper Union (BFA, 2006) and Yale University (MFA, 2014). She has participated in prominent residencies such as the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and the Fine Arts Work Center, and her work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group shows at museums and galleries including the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Her pieces are held in major public collections, reflecting a practice that probes contemporary perceptions of the body, narrative, and societal roles.
