Hung Liu‘s Book Club – Gold reminds us of the innocence of childhood.

Life was so simple when we look back at our childhood. We are like sponges and soak up everything we see and hear. Sometimes there were good things in what we heard and saw, but at other times we were fed misinformation and hate. Not good impressions sometimes.

There is a song called “Children Will Listen,” and it warns of the things we put into a child’s head, lest we undermine the good in all of us:

Careful the things you say
Children will listen
Careful the things you do
Children will see
Children will look to you
For which way to turn
Tamper with what is true
And children will turn
