Judy Chicago – Into the Darkness
Dimensions: 24 x 24″
Judy Chicago is an iconic feminist artist. Her Dinner Party, with place settings for strong women throughout history, is the centerpiece of the gallery of feminist art at the Brooklyn Museum. Chicago is an artist that will inevitably become a chapter in 21st century art history. This image is one of her early feminist images–the body of work that was exhibited at the Miami Institute of Contemporary Art and the body of work which is among her most widely known. The relationship between Chicago’s vibrating color and form to that of fellow New Mexico women artists such as Agnes Pelton and Georgia O’Keeffe can be felt in this image.
