Judy Chicago’s The Dream of the Dinner Party (Permanent Housing) depicts an architectural-style rendering of the ideal permanent housing for her monumental work titled The Dinner Party. The descriptive text states, “to sustain the vision of the Dinner Party it is important to create a special environment – one that is consistent with the imagery, the esthetic processes, and the implicit values of the piece. I envision a ceramic room whose walls extend the yearning toward liberation that the plates embody. I imagine that the shape of the building that houses the Dinner Party would become – like the Dinner Party itself – a symbol for the future.”
