“This piece is a representation of my twin brother and I as kids. With the cut-out silhouette of me, the girl, in the foreground and the cut-out silhouette of my brother, the boy, in the background, this piece expresses how over the years, my individuality has shone through and I have found my voice. As seen by the similar appearances of the two parts of the diptych, my brother and I were once defined as a unit, rather than as unique individuals. But, after having experiences of my own, I overcame the expectation that twins should be alike and shared my voice with the world.” Julia Ross
