This work by Karen Yank is the perfect combination of Yank’s skill as an artist and the philosophy behind her work. Trained as a master sculptor working in steel and other metals, Yank manages to create a soft, organic feeling with industrial materials. The circle is Yank’s personal symbol for nature, creation, and all that is continual. The varied hues, alternating lines, and meditative quality of this work is an artistic acknowledgment of Yank’s mentor, the great American artist Agnes Martin.
