Dill emerged in the 1970’s working closely with artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Claus Oldenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein. He is a painter and sculptor known for using unconventional materials. The son of a lens designer, Dill’s work is often very scientific and technical. He combines such things as silica sand, plate glass, cement, and wax, to create pieces that play on the comparison between man-made and natural materials. The interaction and play of light on the piece is also an integral part of the art.
