Peregrine Honig is a young artist known for her explorations of gender roles and sexuality in her art practice. This ingeniously crafted lithograph features a naked female wearing a beauty contestant sash, needing support for her leg likely due to anatomical changes caused by wearing unnaturally high heels. Honig’s inclusion of the 1955 paper calendar alludes not only to the objectification of women by featuring them in seductive poses on calendars, but also the fact that such a mindset toward women is long outdated. This artwork includes a grommet in the top center, which allows it to hang on the wall as a typical calendar of that era would have been hung. It is in very good condition and is signed by the artist.
