Sky belongs to a suite of 25 lithographs done by Guston. The Gemini editions, like Guston’s late drawings and paintings, are brooding ruminations of Guston’s personal life. Out of 40 images that Guston had drawn between December 1979 and February 1980, 25 were ultimately printed and published. The Gemini editions are deeply autobiographical and act as a window into Philip Guston’s personal life.
