Hood Ornament

March 7–June 8, 2025. Curated by Charles Moore. Through visual expressions that capture the unique approaches to making art and the emotions and experiences of each artist, the exhibition Hood Ornament showcases the enduring strength of Black America that is often overlooked. By portraying these journeys of self-discovery and empowerment, the exhibition encourages audiences to reflect on how these new “hood ornaments” influence their lives, communities, and relationships.

As an exhibition, Hood Ornament symbolizes the connection between cars and neighborhoods typically associated with Black America, highlighting the dichotomous nature of society. This exhibition encourages artists to explore the symbolism of being Black in America through innovative forms of creative expression. Reflecting on the history and the diverse cultures that have emerged, these communities’ unique and shared experiences deserve recognition, sharing, and connection.
